Free Document Delivery Service for Science Faculty Pilot Now Available

The UC Davis University Library announces a new pilot program that runs from October 3, 2011 through March 31, 2012. This exciting pilot allows current and emeritus UC Davis science faculty members to request – for free – copies of print-only format journal articles and print-only format book chapters housed in four UC Davis library buildings. Additionally, the existing Harvest Request (http://www.lib.ucdavis.edu/ul/help/harvest/myaccount.php#request) service that allows any student, staff or faculty member to transfer books and bound journals to another library building for pick-up will be expanded for science faculty to include delivery to and from all buildings.

No Charge Services for Academic Senate and Academic Federation Members

Academic Senate and Academic Federation members are eligible for free electronic delivery when all of the following conditions apply to the library materials requested:

• Materials have a check-out period of 7 days or less (i.e., most journals)
• Materials are not online
• Materials are not at your home library as indicated in the chart below (you will select a home library when registering for DDS, and/or establishing your library account).

If your home library is Shields you are not eligible for free DDS from the Physical Sciences & Engineering Library.

If your home library is the Physical Sciences & Engineering Library you are not eligible for free DDS from Shields.

Fee Services for Academic Senate and Academic Federation Members

Fees apply for Document Delivery services if one or more of the following conditions apply:

• You select a delivery method other than electronic (see delivery options)
• The item is available in print at your home library
• The item is available online
• The item is available at PSE and your home library is Shields
• The item is available at Shields and your home library is PSE.

Payment Options

Two payment options are available.

Departmental Recharge

Departmental accounts may be recharged for DDS service. Recharge account information must be provided upon registration. Users are responsible for notifying the library of any changes in recharge account information.

Bill

An invoice will be sent for requests filled within each calendar month. Bills must be paid by cash or check at the Cashier's Office in Dutton Hall. Bills must be paid promptly. The rules that apply to library circulation bills also apply to DDS bills (see: Abuse of Library Privileges).
