About the Department
The Humanities and Social Sciences (H/SS) reference collection consists of over 35,000 volumes. The collection includes directories, general and specialized dictionaries, encyclopedias, biographical sources, periodical indexes and abstracting services, and specialized handbooks, guidebooks, and bibliographies. Many of the classic reference works are available in print format within the H/SS Reference Department. Supplementing these tools are a growing number of electronic sources, including indexes for tracking the periodical literatures of all arts, humanities, and social sciences disciplines. Many of these electronic resources can be accessed remotely.
